Ingredients
- Long-Grain Rice - 1 cup
- Vegetable Oil - 2 tablespoons
- Toasted Sesame - 2 tablespoons
- Ground clove - 6 pieces
- Green peppercorns - 6 pieces
- Cinnamon - 1 piece
- Desiccated coconut - 3 tablespoons
- Turnips - 2 pieces
- Raisins - 2 tablespoons
- Salt - ½ teaspoon
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Peel, wash, and grate the carrots on a coarse grater.
Step 2
Rinse the raisins.
Step 3
Rinse the rice, soak it in cold water for 15 minutes, drain in a colander, and let it dry.
Step 4
Heat the vegetable oil in a heavy-bottomed pot, add the sesame seeds, cloves, black pepper, cinnamon, and shredded coconut.
Step 5
Fry, stirring, until the coconut shreds become golden.
Step 6
Add the rice to the pot and fry for a few minutes until the grains become transparent.
Step 7
Then pour in 2 cups of water, add the carrots and raisins, season with salt, increase the heat, and bring to a boil.
Step 8
Cover the pot with a lid and cook the porridge on low heat for 20–25 minutes.
Step 9
After that, turn off the heat and let the porridge sit covered for 5 minutes.
Step 10
Before serving, fluff the porridge with a cooking fork.
