Rice with Beans and Cabbage
Ingredients
- Onion - 1 head
- Bell pepper - 1 piece
- Minced garlic - 1 clove
- Tomato Paste - 1 tablespoon
- Vegetable Oil - 3 tablespoons
- Water - 3½ cups
- Rice - 2 cups
- Ground Cumin - 1 teaspoon
- Coarse Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Red Canned Beans - 14.1 oz
- Cabbage leaves - 6 bunches
- Spicy Thai Sauce - 1 tablespoon
Step by Step guide
Step 1
In a small saucepan, heat the vegetable oil. Add the onion, bell pepper, garlic, and tomato paste, and sauté for about 5 minutes. Then add water, stir in the rice, cumin, salt, and bring to a boil. After that, reduce the heat to low and cook until the rice is tender, about 20 minutes.
Step 2
While the rice is cooking, melt butter in a skillet and sauté the cabbage over medium heat until it becomes soft. This will take about 8 minutes. Season with salt and spicy sauce.
Step 3
Remove the cooked rice from the heat and stir in the beans and cabbage. Mix until the ingredients are evenly distributed.
