Description
Saffron has a bitter, spicy taste, a warming effect, and a sharp sensation after digestion. It is easily digestible and helps with food allergies. Medical uses: effective for migraine-type headaches. It may also be beneficial for 'reviving' the blood, improving circulation, and supporting the female reproductive system.
Ingredients
- Saffron - a pinch
- Basmati rice - 1½ glasses
- Sesame Oil - 3 spoons
- Bay leaf - 4 pieces
- Cinnamon - 2 pieces
- Cardamom - 7 pieces
- Clove - 7 pieces
- Salt - ½ spoons
- Water - 1 tablespoon
- Cilantro - 1 bunch
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Rinse the rice twice, drain the water, and let it dry. Soak the saffron in a tablespoon of water for at least 10 minutes.
Step 2
Heat a pot over medium heat and add oil. Then add the bay leaf, broken pieces of cinnamon, cloves, cardamom, salt, and sauté everything for one minute.
Step 3
Reduce the heat, add the rice to the spices, and sauté for another 2 minutes.
Step 4
Pour in the hot water along with the previously soaked saffron and bring to a gentle boil. Then, simmer uncovered for 5 minutes. After that, reduce the heat to medium and partially cover the pot. Cook this way for another 5 minutes, stirring 1-2 times to prevent sticking and burning at the bottom.
Step 5
Reduce the heat to low, seal the pot tightly, and cook for 10 minutes until done.
Step 6
Remove all spices from the rice, finely chop a bunch of cilantro, mix it with the rice, and serve it on the table.
Step 7
You can prepare this dish using a steamer. To do this, heat the spices in a pot as described above and mix them with the rice. Transfer the rice and spices to a plastic container and add a small amount of water, ensuring it doesn't completely cover the rice. Place it in the steamer and cook for 20-30 minutes.
