Description
Recipe from a cookbook by John Smith, 'Cooking Like in Anime: Recipes for True Otaku!'.
Ingredients
- Scallions - 2 pieces
- Grated Ginger Root - 0.4 oz
- Frozen squid rings - 17.6 oz
- Squid tentacles in brine - 2 pieces
- Shrimp - 8 pieces
- Sake - 2 tablespoons
- Soy Sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Boiled White Round Rice - 10.6 oz
- Uchiko Spices - 1 teaspoon
- Dried Nori Seaweed - 1 tablespoon
- Lemon - 1 piece
- Vegetable Oil - 2 tablespoons
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Prepare the green onions. Finely chop the green part and slice the bulb into thin half-rings. Place in two separate containers and set aside.
Step 2
Peel and chop the ginger.
Step 3
Now, handle the seafood: rinse the squid rings and cut the tentacles into small pieces.
Step 4
Peel the shrimp: remove the shell, legs, and intestinal vein.
Step 5
In a deep skillet or wok, pour in the vegetable oil and heat over high heat. When the oil is hot, add the squid rings and fry for 4–5 minutes.
Step 6
Pour the sake and soy sauce into the skillet and stir vigorously, making sure nothing sticks to the bottom.
Step 7
Add the white part of the green onions and ginger, then reduce the heat to medium.
Step 8
Now add the tentacles and shrimp. Fry for 1.5 minutes together with the rings.
Step 9
After that, add the rice, sprinkle with shichimi spice mix and crushed nori.
Step 10
Increase the heat back to high and fry the rice with seafood for 1.5–2 minutes.
Step 11
Serve the dish hot. Sprinkle the rice with green onions for added freshness, and drizzle with lemon juice before eating.
