Ingredients
- Mung Beans - 3.5 oz
- Water - 17 fl oz
- Turmeric - a pinch
- Vegetable Oil - 2½ tablespoons
- Cumin Seeds - ½ teaspoon
- Minced garlic - 3 cloves
- Onion - ½ head
- Frozen Green Peas - 2 tablespoons
- Grated Ginger - 1½ tablespoons
- Green Chili Pepper - 2 pieces
- Rice - 2.6 oz
- Canned tomatoes - 2 pieces
- Lemon Juice - 1 tablespoon
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Rinse the mung beans, place them in a pot with water, add turmeric, and bring to a boil.
Step 2
Boil for 25 minutes until the mung beans are soft and the liquid has evaporated.
Step 3
Remove from heat and set aside.
Step 4
Heat the oil in a deep skillet and add the cumin seeds.
Step 5
When they start to crackle, add the garlic and onion, and sauté until golden brown.
Step 6
Add the frozen peas, ginger, and green chili, and sauté for 2 minutes.
Step 7
Add the mung beans and 1 teaspoon of salt, then add the rice and mix well.
Step 8
Heat the tomatoes on low heat for 3-4 minutes.
Step 9
Drizzle with lemon juice.
