Description

Despite the long cooking time, this is a simple, hearty, and inexpensive dish. Serve with mashed potatoes, sauerkraut, or baked potatoes. Use horseradish or mustard as a condiment)))

Ingredients

  • Pork Neck - 1 piece
  • Beer - 1 qt
  • Garlic - 1 head
  • Bay leaf - 3 pieces
  • Green peppercorns - to taste
  • Salt - to taste
  • Onion - 2 heads
  • Honey - 2 tablespoons
  • Ginger - 0.5 oz
  • Soy Sauce - 1 fl oz
  • Sugar - 0.5 oz

Step by Step guide

Step 1

Wash the pork hock, preferably the front leg, dry it with a towel, make diagonal cuts on the skin in a cross pattern, rub with salt and pepper, add chopped onion, and pour in the beer. Let it marinate for 2–4 hours.

Step 2

Remove from the marinade, rinse lightly, and boil for 1 hour.

Step 3

Season the boiled hock with pepper, salt, ginger to taste, and stuff it with garlic, then place it in a preheated oven for 40–45 minutes at a temperature of 180–374°F.

Step 4

After 45 minutes, take the hock out of the oven, brush it with a mixture of soy sauce and honey, and return it to the oven for 15–20 minutes to form a crust.
