Ingredients

  • Beef - 8.8 oz
  • Pork Blood - 8.8 oz
  • White bread - 2.8 oz
  • Herring - 3.5 oz
  • Mustard Greens - 0.7 oz
  • Chicken Egg - 1 piece
  • Gherkins - 7.1 oz
  • Onion - 1.8 oz
  • Ground Black Pepper - to taste
  • Salt - to taste

Step by Step guide

Step 1

Wash the meat and squeeze out the water. Soak the bread in water or milk. Soak the herring, clean it, separate the fillet, and remove the bones. Chop the onion.

Step 2

Pass the meat, herring, soaked bread, and onion through a meat grinder, add the egg, prepared mustard, mix well until homogeneous, season to taste with salt and pepper, and form 10–12 round meatballs. Place them in hot water and cook on low heat for 10–15 minutes.

Step 3

After cooking the meatballs, reduce the broth to 0.5 liters and prepare a sauce from the gherkins. Serve the meatballs in the sauce with potatoes, porridge, or vegetables.
