Description
You can add bell pepper if desired, but the salad has a wide range of flavors as it is. Salt and pepper to taste; in my version, it wasn't necessary as the tomatoes contain salt and spiciness from the spices, and the cheese is salty on its own. For those who are fasting, feta can be replaced with tofu cheese. I also garnished the salad with segments of mandarin; orange can be used, but it is not a mandatory ingredient.
Ingredients
- Green lettuce - 2.8 oz
- Celery stalk - 4 stalks
- Antonovka apples - 2 pieces
- Lemon Juice - 0 fl oz
- Mint Leaves - 1 bunch
- Basil leaves - 1 bunch
- Red Onion - 4.2 oz
- Fresh Mushrooms - 2.8 oz
- Feta cheese - 7.1 oz
- Sun-Dried Tomatoes in Oil - 2.8 oz
- Balsamic Dressing - 0 fl oz
- Mandarins - 1 piece
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Wash the lettuce leaves and tear them into small pieces, refrigerate; you can chop them before serving.
Step 2
Peel and slice the celery stalk into approximately 5 mm thick pieces.
Step 3
Peel the apples, remove the core, and cut them into pieces the same size as the celery.
Step 4
Mix the celery and apples, add lemon juice, and stir.
Step 5
Separate the basil and mint from the stems, wash and dry them, and keep them cool until serving.
Step 6
Clean the mushrooms and slice them; if you have large mushrooms, it's better to cut them in half.
Step 7
Cut the feta cheese into cubes.
Step 8
Chop the sun-dried tomatoes into pieces about 1.5 cm (they are usually small in jars, so each piece can be cut into 3 or 4 parts).
Step 9
Segment the mandarin.
Step 10
Slice the red onion into half-rings; it's always better to cut the onion last so it doesn't lose its juice and become bitter.
Step 11
The most important step is assembling the salad before serving, in the following order: place the lettuce leaves, apples, and celery (previously dried). Add basil and mint, red onion, mushrooms, feta cheese, tomatoes, garnish with mandarin segments, and dress with balsamic dressing.
