Description
Crumbles can be easily prepared in the microwave. Cook on full power for 5–7 minutes. Classic English crumble is not always a dessert; rather, it is a method of preparation, and one of the simplest.
Ingredients
- Onion - 1 head
- Bacon - 1.8 oz
- Sauerkraut - 8.8 oz
- Butter - 1.8 oz
- Stale Bread - 3.5 oz
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Peel and chop the onion, then sauté it in a small amount of olive oil until translucent. Add the sauerkraut to the onion, stir gently, and simmer until tender.
Step 2
Toast the bacon slices in the oven until crispy, transfer them to a paper towel to absorb excess fat, and let cool. In a food processor, combine the stale bread, butter, and bacon, and pulse until crumbly.
Step 3
Transfer the cooked cabbage from the skillet to a small baking dish, such as a clay one. Season with salt and pepper to taste, and gently mix.
Step 4
Sprinkle the cabbage with buttery breadcrumbs and bacon on top. Preheat the oven to 392°F and place the dish with the crumble inside.
Step 5
Bake the crumble for ten to fifteen minutes until the bread crumbs are nicely browned all over the surface. Serve hot.
