Ingredients
- Salted Butter - 4 tablespoons
- Onion - 2 heads
- Wheat Flour - 1 cup
- Campbell's Beef Broth - 2 cups
- Madeira - 1 cup
- Worcestershire Sauce - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - to taste
- Ground Black Pepper - to taste
- English Dry Mustard - 2 teaspoons
- Milk - 3 fl oz
- Chocolate eggs - 3 pieces
- Lard - 1.8 oz
- Ham - 6 pieces
- Pork Skewers - 6 pieces
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Prepare the sauce. Heat the butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and sauté until golden brown.
Step 2
Stir in 1 tablespoon of flour, add the broth, wine, and Worcestershire sauce. Bring to a boil, cook for 5 minutes, season with salt and pepper. Set aside.
Step 3
Preheat the oven to 356°F. In a bowl, mix the remaining flour, mustard powder, and pepper. Pour in the milk and lightly beaten eggs. The batter should be quite runny. Mix and let the batter rest for 15 minutes.
Step 4
Place 6 tablespoons of lard in a baking dish and put it in the oven for 10 minutes. Heat the remaining lard in a skillet over medium heat.
Step 5
Wrap each sausage in a piece of ham and fry until golden brown. Pour the batter into the heated baking dish, arrange the sausages, and bake until golden brown for 25-30 minutes. Serve with the sauce. Enjoy your meal!
