Description

The name 'Sazerac' belongs to one of the oldest American cocktails (it was invented in New Orleans before the Civil War) and is derived from the brandy of the same name. Later, rye whiskey was used in the cocktail, and now this whiskey is simply called Sazerac. In this version of the Sazerac, both brandy and whiskey are used, although it is bourbon rather than rye.

Ingredients

  • Absinthe - 0 fl oz
  • Bourbon - 1 fl oz
  • Cognac - 1 fl oz
  • Gingerbread-flavored syrup - 0 fl oz
  • Bitter - 0 fl oz
  • Citrus Zest Mix - to taste

Step by Step guide

Step 1

Fill a cocktail glass with crushed ice and pour absinthe into it.

Step 2

In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, pour in the cognac, bourbon, simple syrup, and bitters. Stir with a bar spoon for about half a minute.

Step 3

Remove the ice with absinthe from the cocktail glass, leaving only the aroma. Strain the cocktail into the glass using a strainer. Garnish with lemon peel.
