Ingredients
- Carrot - 17.6 oz
- Onion - 10.6 oz
- Passata Tomato Sauce - 10.6 oz
- Leek - 5.3 oz
- Celery stalk - 5.3 oz
- Tomatoes - 8.8 oz
- Sugar - 1.1 oz
- Pasta shells - 17.6 oz
- Vegetable Oil - 3 fl oz
- Butter - 1.8 oz
- Garlic - 0.5 oz
- Bay leaf - 1 piece
- Irish Whiskey - 1 fl oz
- Water - 2 qt
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Sauté all the vegetables, add the shrimp shells, and cook for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Step 2
Add the tomato paste and sauté for another 5 minutes.
Step 3
Add two liters of water and simmer for about 20 minutes, until the vegetables are tender.
Step 4
Add the spices and whiskey. Cook for another 5 minutes, then let it sit for about half an hour to infuse.
Step 5
Blend everything together using a blender or mixer. Strain the resulting mixture through a fine sieve to ensure that any bits of shell do not get into the sauce.
Step 6
Add salt and sugar, and mix well. Cover with butter.
