Description

Seafood Lasagna (Lasagne al ragu di mare)

Ingredients

  • Ready-made dry lasagna sheets - 10 pieces
  • Butter - 3.5 oz
  • Milk - 7 fl oz
  • Wheat Flour - 2 tablespoons
  • Celery stalk - 3 pieces
  • Onion - 1 piece
  • Orange Bell Peppers - 1 piece
  • Passata Tomato Sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Frozen squid rings - 7.1 oz
  • Lobster tails - 10 pieces
  • Salt - to taste
  • Ground Black Pepper - to taste
  • Olive Oil - 4 tablespoons
  • Carrot - 1 piece
  • Garlic - 2 cloves
  • Grated Pecorino Pepato Cheese - 2.5 oz

Step by Step guide

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 356°F.

Step 2

Heat olive oil in a skillet, add crushed garlic, and sauté until golden brown, then add diced onion and cook until golden.

Step 3

Dice the celery, carrot, and bell pepper, add the vegetables to the skillet, and sauté for about four minutes.

Step 4

Cut the squid into cubes. Peel the shrimp, remove the vein, and also cut into cubes. Add to the skillet with the vegetables.

Step 5

Heat the milk.

Step 6

For the béchamel sauce: take another skillet, melt the butter, add the flour, mix thoroughly, and gradually pour in the milk while constantly stirring. Bring to a slight thickening, remove from heat, and season with salt and pepper.

Step 7

Add the tomato paste to the skillet with the vegetables and seafood, you can add a little water, season with salt and pepper, and simmer for about 2 minutes, then remove from heat.

Step 8

In the bottom of the dish where we will 'assemble' the lasagna, place a spoonful of béchamel sauce, spread it evenly, then place the sheets of dough (I used 2 sheets side by side), another spoonful of béchamel sauce, evenly spread over the dough, then layer the seafood with vegetables, sprinkle with grated Parmesan, and cover with sheets of dough. Continue assembling the lasagna in this order until all ingredients are used up. My final layer was vegetables with seafood. (If the sauces are too thick, you can pour a little water around the edges of the dish.)

Step 9

Cover the dish with foil and place it in the oven for 15 minutes.

Step 10

Remove the dish, take off the foil, and sprinkle with mozzarella on top (or cover with slices, cut the cheese as you prefer) and return to the oven. Bake until a golden crust forms, about 7-10 minutes.
