Ingredients
- Shallot - 1 piece
- Onion - 1 head
- Garlic - 3 cloves
- Turmeric - 0.1 teaspoons
- Vegetable Oil - 3 tablespoons
- Mustard Greens - 1 tablespoon
- Ground coriander - 1 teaspoon
- Ground Cumin - ¼ teaspoons
- Ground Nutmeg - a pinch
- Chili Flakes - ¼ tablespoons
- Ground clove - on the tip of a knife
- Butter - 6 tablespoons
- Orange juice concentrate - 0.7 cups
- Peeled Cooked Shrimp - 24.7 oz
- Meyer Lemon Juice - 1 tablespoon
- Salt - ½ teaspoons
- Ground Black Pepper - to taste
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Finely chop the onion and garlic. Rinse the shrimp in cold running water and pat dry.
Step 2
In a small skillet (25 cm in diameter) over medium-high heat, heat the vegetable oil and add the onion. Sauté until the onion becomes very dark (about 6-8 minutes).
Step 3
Add the spices and sauté for another 3 minutes.
Step 4
In a clean medium-sized skillet, melt the butter. After 2 minutes, when the butter turns brown, add the sautéed onion with spices, pour in the orange juice, and keep on medium-high heat. Stirring, bring the mixture to a boil and wait for the liquid to reduce by half (about 2 minutes).
Step 5
Add the shrimp to the prepared sauce, season with salt and black pepper to taste, and cook for 4 minutes while stirring.
Step 6
Remove the cooked shrimp from the heat, mix with lemon juice, and serve with white rice.
