Description

Skillet Lasagna

Ingredients

  • Olive Oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Baking Tomatoes - 28.2 oz
  • Onion - 1 piece
  • Salt - ½ teaspoon
  • Garlic - 3 cloves
  • Chili Flakes - to taste
  • Ready-made dry lasagna sheets - 10 pieces
  • Ground meat - 15.9 oz
  • Passata Tomato Sauce - 7.8 oz
  • Basil - 2 tablespoons
  • Grated Pecorino Pepato Cheese - 4.2 oz
  • Ricotta cheese - 7.8 oz

Step by Step guide

Step 1

Pass the onion through a meat grinder.

Step 2

Finely chop the garlic and basil.

Step 3

Break the lasagna sheets in half.

Step 4

Chop the tomatoes finely and place them in a bowl. Dilute with water (about 130–150 ml).

Step 5

Place a large skillet over medium heat and, once the oil is hot, sauté the onion (add salt).

Step 6

Stir occasionally until the onion darkens (about 5 minutes).

Step 7

Add the garlic and red pepper flakes.

Step 8

Add the ground meat and break it up with a wooden spoon.

Step 9

When the meat is cooked, place the halved lasagna sheets on top, but do not stir—leave them on top of the meat.

Step 10

Pour in the chopped tomatoes and tomato sauce (again, do not stir!).

Step 11

Cover the skillet with a lid. Reduce the heat to low and let the lasagna simmer, stirring occasionally.

Step 12

The lasagna sheets should cook through (about 20 minutes).

Step 13

Turn off the heat, sprinkle in 0.5 cup of grated Parmesan, and season with salt and pepper.

Step 14

Add the ricotta, but do not stir, cover again with the lid, and let it sit for 5 minutes to melt the cheese.

Step 15

Remove the lid, sprinkle with the remaining grated Parmesan, chopped basil, and serve.
