Solyanka with Bacon
Ingredients
- Salted pork belly - 5.3 oz
- Sauerkraut - 10.6 oz
- Carrot - 1.8 oz
- Onion - 1.8 oz
- Vegetable Oil - 0 fl oz
- Dill - 0.4 oz
- Passata Tomato Sauce - 0.7 oz
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Sauté the onion and carrot in oil for 5 minutes.
Step 2
Rinse the sauerkraut under cold running water in a colander and let it drain.
Step 3
Add the sauerkraut to the vegetables and sauté, stirring, for 10 minutes.
Step 4
Once the sauerkraut is browned and softened, add the sliced bacon and sauté for another 5 minutes.
Step 5
Add the tomato paste to the vegetables and meat, mix well, add spices—salt and pepper to taste (I add a mix of khmeli-suneli)—and cover; simmer on low heat for another 10–15 minutes until cooked.
