Description
Serve warm or chilled. Pair with grilled chicken and pork.
Ingredients
- Spanish onions - 7.1 oz
- Vegetable Oil - 1 tablespoon
- Grated Ginger Root - 2 teaspoons
- Habanero Pepper - 1 piece
- Salt - ¾ teaspoon
- Apple Cider Vinegar - ½ cup
- Bananas - 4 pieces
- Ground clove - ½ teaspoon
- Rum - 2 tablespoons
- Soy Sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Turmeric - ¼ teaspoon
- Water - ¼ cup
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Heat the vegetable oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Add the finely chopped onion, ginger, 2 teaspoons of minced jalapeño flesh, and salt. Cover and cook until softened, about 6–8 minutes. Then add the allspice and, without covering, cook for another 30 seconds until fragrant.
Step 2
Add the peeled and mashed bananas, vinegar, rum, soy sauce, and turmeric. Increase the heat and stir until it comes to a boil.
Step 3
Then reduce to low heat and cook for another 15–20 minutes until the sauce thickens (the sauce should be very thick).
Step 4
Transfer the mixture to a blender, add water, and blend until smooth.
