Description
Spicy Corn Porridge "Bloody Joe"
Ingredients
- Coarse Cornmeal - 1 cup
- Water - to taste
- Habanero Pepper - 14.1 oz
- Carrot - 1 piece
- Meyer Lemon Juice - 1 tablespoon
- Vegetable Oil - 1 cup
- Spiced Tomato Juice - 1½ cups
- Salt - to taste
- Ground Black Pepper - to taste
- Chocolate eggs - 3 pieces
- Pepper Vodka - 1 fl oz
- Celery salt - 2 stalks
- Cucumbers - 2 pieces
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Prepare the corn porridge using the cornmeal and water in the usual way. Alternatively, use pre-cooked porridge.
Step 2
To make the paste, combine the habanero, carrot, lemon juice in a food processor bowl and set it to chopping mode. Gradually pour in the vegetable oil in a thin stream.
Step 3
For the "Cursed Joe", mix the tomato juice and Bloody Mary sauce in a saucepan and place it over low heat. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Then add the mixture from the food processor to the saucepan. Once the contents of the saucepan are heated through, crack in the eggs, stirring each time until the whites are set. Add the pepper vodka and stir again.
Step 4
To serve, place the corn porridge in a deep dish, pour over the "Cursed Joe" mixture, and arrange slices of celery and cucumber around the edge so that one end of the slices is dipped into the dish.
