Description
A rich and spicy drink that could serve as a full breakfast. You can cut the chili pepper and remove the seeds, but Jane simply breaks it in half and tosses it into the chocolate. This way, the seeds won't fall out, and it can be used multiple times. To ensure the chocolate isn't too spicy, the chili can be removed from the saucepan earlier.
Ingredients
- Bittersweet Chocolate - 3.5 oz
- Milk - 13 fl oz
- Mild Chili Spice - 1 piece
- Vanilla Pod - ½ pieces
- Cinnamon - 1 piece
- Cognac - 1 tablespoon
- Raw cane sugar - to taste
- Whipped Cream - to taste
- Cocoa Powder - to taste
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Grate the chocolate using a coarse grater — it’s not necessary to grate it all the way to the end, just ensure that the majority is finely grated and there aren't any large chunks.
Step 2
Slice the vanilla pod lengthwise, break the chili in half, and place them along with the cinnamon stick into a saucepan with milk. Place the milk over heat and warm it up significantly, but do not bring it to a boil. Then, add the grated chocolate and cook for about ten minutes while stirring.
Step 3
Remove the spices, add sugar to the chocolate to taste, take it off the heat, and stir in the cognac or amaretto.
Step 4
Pour the drink into cups, top with whipped cream, and sprinkle with chocolate shavings or cocoa powder.
