Ingredients
- Potato - 1½ kg
- Bacon - 8.8 oz
- White Cabbage - 17.6 oz
- Onion - 2 pieces
- Bay leaf - 1 piece
- Salt - a pinch
- Ground Black Pepper - a pinch
- Semi-Smoked Sausage - 17.6 oz
- Milk - 10 fl oz
- Butter - 2 spoons
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Peel the onion and potato, then cut them into medium-sized cubes.
Step 2
Wash the cabbage, remove the outer leaves, and slice it into strips.
Step 3
Place the potatoes, bay leaf, and a pinch of salt in a pot and cover with water. Cover with a lid, bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 25 minutes.
Step 4
Remove the bay leaf. Drain the water from the potatoes, leaving 1.5 cups. Return the potatoes to the pot, adding the remaining water. Add the cabbage and sausages to the potatoes. Cover and simmer slowly until the cabbage is tender.
Step 5
While the cabbage is simmering, sauté the bacon and onion until golden brown.
Step 6
Remove the pot with the vegetables from the heat and take out the sausages. Add the bacon and onions, milk, and butter, then mash until smooth. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Slice the sausages and place them on top of the mash.
