Description
Stewed potatoes with canned meat and herbs
Ingredients
- Potato - 8 pieces
- Stewed Meat - 1 can
- Onion - 1 head
- Garlic - 1 clove
- Carrot - 1 piece
- Passata Tomato Sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Herbs - to taste
- Salt - to taste
- Ground Black Pepper - to taste
- Butter - 1 tablespoon
- Vegetable Oil - 1 tablespoon
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Finely chop the onion and mince the garlic. The peeled carrot can be grated coarsely or sliced into thin rounds.
Step 2
Transfer the stew to a plate and remove the solidified white fat. Use a fork to mash the meat.
Step 3
Peel the potatoes and cut them into cubes or wedges. Add enough water to cover the potatoes halfway or slightly more. Place on the heat, and when it comes to a boil, reduce to low heat and let it simmer gently with the lid on. Occasionally check the pot and stir to prevent the potatoes from sticking to the sides.
Step 4
In a well-heated skillet with a small amount of vegetable oil, add the onion and sauté over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally, for about 5–7 minutes. Add the carrot and increase the heat slightly, cooking for another 3–5 minutes.
Step 5
Now add the tomato paste, mix well, and once it boils, add the canned meat along with any sauce or jelly from the jar. Increase the heat slightly and stir, cooking for 3-4 minutes.
Step 6
Transfer the mixture to the pot with the potatoes. Season with salt and pepper to taste, then increase the heat to bring it to a rapid boil.
Step 7
After it comes to a boil, stir again, cover with a lid, and simmer on low heat, just enough to see gentle bubbles, for another 5-7 minutes.
Step 8
Now it's time to add the chopped herbs and garlic to the pot, add the butter, stir once more, cover with a lid and a towel, and turn off the heat.
