Stuffed Cabbage
Ingredients
- Green Papaya - 1 head
- Meat - 17.6 oz
- Milk - 8 fl oz
- White bread - 4.4 oz
- Sour Cream - 1 jar
- Salt - to taste
- Vegetable Oil - 3 tablespoons
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Take a small whole head of cabbage, remove the outer leaves, cut out the core, and place it in boiling salted water. When the cabbage is cooked enough that the leaves do not break, remove it from the water and place it on a sieve to drain.
Step 2
To prepare the filling, pass the meat through a meat grinder, mix it with the bread soaked in milk, and grind it again. Add oil, salt, and mix everything well into the filling.
Step 3
When the cabbage cools down, separate the leaves, lightly salt them, and fill them with the meat mixture. Then fold the leaves back to form a head, place it in a skillet, drizzle with oil, add broth or water, and put it in the oven for an hour.
Step 4
15–20 minutes before the baking is finished, pour sour cream over the cabbage. Transfer the finished head to a serving dish, cut into pieces, and drizzle with the strained sauce in which the cabbage was stewed.
