Tomato Sauce for Ravioli
Ingredients
- Salt - to taste
- Butter - 0.9 oz
- Gruyère cheese - 3.5 oz
- Sugar - 1 teaspoon
- Tomatoes - 3 lbs
- Onion - 1.8 oz
- Safflower Oil - 3 tablespoons
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Finely chop the onion. Peel the tomatoes and cut them into cubes. Grate the cheese.
Step 2
Heat the sunflower oil in a skillet, add the onion, and cook on low heat for 5 minutes until soft. Add the tomatoes and sauté, mashing them with a spatula, for another 10 minutes. Allow the mixture to cool slightly, then transfer it to a blender and puree. Add the sugar and a pinch of salt.
Step 3
Preheat the oven to 392°F. Spread some sauce in a baking dish, sprinkle with half of the cheese. Layer the ravioli on top of the cheese and pour the remaining sauce over them. Sprinkle with cheese and pieces of butter again. Bake for 20-30 minutes until golden brown.
