Truffles in Wine Sauce
Ingredients
- Olive Oil - 4 tablespoons
- Canned Truffles - 17.6 oz
- Onion - 1 head
- Wheat Flour - 2 tablespoons
- Salt - to taste
- Madeira - 6.2 oz
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Slice the truffles thinly and place them in a pot, covering them with water so that all slices are submerged, and heat until just below boiling. Reduce the heat and simmer for 10 minutes.
Step 2
Meanwhile, prepare the sauce. Heat the oil in a saucepan, add finely chopped onion, and cook over low heat, stirring, for 8–10 minutes until the onion is golden brown. Pour in the wine and 750 ml of water, add salt, and cook for another 2–3 minutes.
Step 3
Drain the liquid from the truffles and return them to the pot. Pour the sauce over them, cover with a lid, and cook for 30 minutes. Taste and add salt if needed, then serve immediately.
