Description

Tuna Niçoise is a classic French salad that features a combination of fresh vegetables, hard-boiled eggs, olives, and tender tuna. This dish is perfect for a light lunch or dinner, offering a delightful balance of flavors and textures. Serve it with a drizzle of olive oil and a squeeze of lemon for a refreshing touch.

Ingredients

  • Tomatoes - 5.3 oz
  • Spanish onions - 2.1 oz
  • Cucumbers - 5.3 oz
  • Kenyan Beans - 1.4 oz
  • Olives stuffed with lemon - 2.8 oz
  • Tuna - 12.3 oz
  • Olive Oil - 2 fl oz
  • Vegetable Oil - 1 fl oz
  • Salt - 0.1 oz
  • Ground Black Pepper - 0.1 oz
  • Lime - 1.1 oz
  • Parsley - 0.1 oz
  • Chicken Egg - 4 pieces

Step by Step guide

Step 1

Season the tuna with salt and pepper, and sear it in a frying pan with vegetable oil for 20-30 seconds on each side, until cooked to a blue doneness.

Step 2

Cut the tomato into wedges, dice the cucumber into 1.5 x 1.5 cm cubes, slice the green beans lengthwise into three equal pieces, cut the red onion into feathers, and halve the olives and black olives.

Step 3

Boil the chicken eggs for 5 minutes (the egg white should be cooked, and the yolk should remain runny).

Step 4

In a salad bowl, combine cucumber, tomato, olives, red onion, and Kenyan beans. Drizzle with olive oil, season with salt and pepper, mix everything together, and mound it on a serving plate.

Step 5

Garnish the salad with a halved boiled egg and torn pieces of seared tuna, arranged along the fibers. Add a sprig of parsley and a wedge of lime. Sprinkle freshly ground pepper over the egg yolk.
