It can be enjoyed warm or chilled in the refrigerator, either as a standalone dish with a side or as a snack in the form of pastrami slices on a piece of rye or whole grain bread. The dietary turkey meat pairs wonderfully with any berry sauce, such as cranberry!
Ingredients
- Turkey - 28.2 oz
- Water - 2 cups
- Unrefined Sunflower Oil - 1 tablespoon
- Paprika - 2 teaspoons
- Red Curry Powder - 1 teaspoon
- White Pepper (whole) - ½ teaspoon
- Ground Black Pepper - ½ teaspoon
- Salt - 4½ tablespoons
- Grated Ginger Root - ⅓ teaspoon
- Red Long Chili Peppers - a pinch
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Rinse the turkey thigh well and soak it in a salt solution so that the liquid completely covers the meat (1 tablespoon of salt per 1 cup of water). Cover and refrigerate overnight.
Step 2
For the marinade, mix sunflower oil, ground paprika, curry, ground white and black pepper, salt to taste, and ground ginger.
Step 3
Remove the meat from the solution, pat it dry, and evenly coat it with the marinade.
Step 4
Roll it up, tie it with string, netting, or bandage. Place it on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or foil.
Step 5
Bake the pastrami in an oven preheated to 482°F (482 degrees Fahrenheit) for 25 minutes. Turn off the oven and leave the cooked pastrami inside for another 40 minutes. Cool to room temperature.
Step 6
Slice the pastrami and serve. Enjoy your meal!
