Description
Vancouver-Style Lettuce Wrap Hamburger
Ingredients
- Ground coriander - 1 bunch
- Onion - 2 heads
- Passata Tomato Sauce - 3.5 oz
- Garlic - 1 head
- Ground Cumin - to taste
- Mild Chili Spice - to taste
- Salt - to taste
- Ground Black Pepper - to taste
- Tomatoes - 4 pieces
- Pickles - 7.1 oz
- Lean Beef - 2 lbs
- Mayonnaise - 7.1 oz
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Mix the ground beef well with the tomato paste, onion, garlic, cilantro, cumin, salt, pepper, and a handful of ice cubes. Pound it on the table.
Step 2
Heat your home or outdoor grill well (I grilled on a gas grill plate, but you can also use a grill pan). Form the hamburgers and place them on the hot grill, pressing down slightly with a spatula. 'Seal' the meat on one side, then the other (for a few seconds), then cook for an additional 2–3 minutes on each side.
Step 3
Prepare the vegetables: slice the tomatoes, pickles, and onion rings, drizzle with the juice of half a lemon or lime, and prepare fresh, crisp lettuce leaves.
Step 4
The mayonnaise sauce can certainly be bought ready-made, but I made it myself: today it was mayonnaise with a bit of ketchup and lemon juice. You can also make mayonnaise mixed with avocado puree.
Step 5
On a lettuce leaf, place the tomatoes (you can season with salt and pepper), then the pickles, the hamburger, on top of that the pickled onions, mayonnaise sauce, cover (or wrap) with another lettuce leaf and serve.
