Vareniki with Potatoes Odessa Style

Ingredients

  • 1% Kefir - 17 fl oz
  • Chicken Egg - 1 piece
  • Wheat Flour - 28.2 oz
  • Salt - to taste
  • Salad Potatoes - 17.6 oz
  • Butter - 0.7 oz

Step by Step guide

Step 1

Knead the dough. In room temperature kefir, beat in the egg, add flour and salt. Mix everything. The dough should not be too stiff but should easily come off your hands. Leave it in a warm place for 20 minutes.

Step 2

For the filling. Boil the potatoes and drain the water. Mash into a puree and add butter, seasoning with salt. Let it cool.

Step 3

Roll out the dough and cut out circles. Place a teaspoon of filling on each circle. Seal the edges.

Step 4

Cook in boiling salted water for 5–10 minutes. The time depends on the size of the varenyky.

Step 5

Serve with sour cream.
