Description
This recipe is taken from a book on delicious vegan food. "In the past, French-style meat was an essential dish at New Year's Eve dinners. In many families, this tradition has continued to this day. Honestly, I love this dish so much that I could eat it any time of the year, even in summer. It is, of course, quite rich, but fantastically tasty. By the way, meat lovers enjoy the vegan version without even realizing that it contains not a single gram of animal products... I recommend cooking the 'meat' French-style in a beautiful ceramic baking dish and serving it directly from there to the table."
Ingredients
- Onion - ½ heads
- Soy Meat - 2.8 oz
- Champignons - 2.5 oz
- Vegetable Oil - 2 fl oz
- Coconut Milk - 1 fl oz
- Tofu - 1.1 oz
- Dijon Mustard - 1 tablespoon
- Soy Vanilla Milk - 2 fl oz
- Lime Juice - 1 tablespoon
- Champagne Vinegar - to taste
- Ground Black Pepper - to taste
- Salt - to taste
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Prepare the vegan mayonnaise: place the vegetable oil, coconut oil, tofu, mustard, milk, lime juice, and white wine vinegar into a blender and blend well. Add salt to taste. Transfer the mayonnaise to a jar and refrigerate for a couple of hours to allow the flavors to meld.
Step 2
Add the soy schnitzels to boiling water and cook for 15 minutes, then drain in a colander.
Step 3
Peel the onion and slice it into half-moons, and slice the mushrooms.
Step 4
In a greased ceramic baking dish, place the soy meat, onions, and mushrooms. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Drizzle with mayonnaise on top. Bake for 40 minutes at 356°F. Allow the cooked meat to rest under a lid for 10-15 minutes.
Step 5
Serve hot, optionally garnished with herbs.
