Ingredients
- Sugar - 4 teaspoons
- Watermelon - 7 lbs
- Tequila - 6 fl oz
- Fresh basil leaves - 24 pieces
- Triple sec liqueur - 3 fl oz
- Ice - 6 cups
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Cut 24 small cubes from the watermelon flesh, place them on a plate lined with parchment paper, and put them in the freezer.
Step 2
In a blender, puree the remaining watermelon flesh with sugar and strain through a sieve or cheesecloth into a large bowl — you should have about 720 ml of juice.
Step 3
Pour the tequila into a pitcher and add the basil leaves. Gently muddle with a muddler or wooden spoon.
Step 4
Add the watermelon juice and liqueur to the pitcher.
Step 5
Place the frozen watermelon cubes into glasses.
Step 6
Fill a shaker with ice and add 180 ml of the margarita. Shake well and pour into the glasses. Repeat with the remaining margarita.
