Description
White Glögg. In terms of preparation and flavor, glögg is akin to mulled wine. It's unclear which came first, though. The main difference between the two is that, in addition to spices and citrus zest, glögg typically includes various fruits, dried fruits, and nuts. Just like mulled wine, glögg can be made with both red and white wine. When using white dry wine—preferably with floral notes in the aroma and aftertaste—pear pairs wonderfully, as long as it doesn’t scorch during the cooking process and become bitter.
Ingredients
- Dry White Wine - 1½ l
- Conference Pear - 0 lbs
- Sugar - 10 oz
- Cinnamon - 5 pieces
- Dark rum - 5 fl oz
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Finely chop the pear, sprinkle it with sugar and cinnamon, add a little water to prevent it from burning, and simmer on low heat for about 5-10 minutes.
Step 2
Then pour white wine over the pear, heat it to about 60-160°F, and simmer on low heat for about 20 minutes.
Step 3
Remove from heat, add rum for strength and sweetness, and let it sit in the refrigerator overnight to allow the flavors to meld.
