Young Cabbage Solyanka
Ingredients
- Semi-Smoked Sausage - 2 pieces
- Ham - 10.6 oz
- White Cabbage - 1 head
- Onion - 2 heads
- Garlic - 4 cloves
- Passata Tomato Sauce - 3 tablespoons
- Clarified Butter - 1 tablespoon
- Salt - to taste
- Ground Black Pepper - to taste
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Finely shred the cabbage, then cut it across into 3 cm pieces.
Step 2
Peel the onion and garlic. Slice the onion into thin quarter rings and mince the garlic.
Step 3
Heat clarified butter in a heavy-bottomed saucepan, add the onion, and sauté for 5 minutes. Add the cabbage and garlic, and sauté for another 5 minutes.
Step 4
Dilute the tomato sauce in 1 cup of water, season with salt and pepper. Pour into the cabbage and simmer over medium heat, stirring, until the cabbage is soft and the liquid has evaporated.
Step 5
Cut the sausages and ham into bite-sized pieces, and fry in oil until golden brown. A couple of minutes before finishing, add all the meat to the cabbage, season with pepper, and mix thoroughly. Serve very hot.
