Description
A wonderful jam made from a syrup of apple peels. Almost zero waste production.
Ingredients
- Apple - 4 lbs
- Sugar - 2 lbs
- Water - 17 fl oz
- Cinnamon - 1 piece
- Lemon - 1 piece
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Peel the apples.
Step 10
Transfer the finished jam into jars and remove the cinnamon stick.
Step 2
Place the peels in a wide pot for making jam and cover with 2 cups of water. Boil for 15 minutes.
Step 3
Remove the apple peels from the water; they will not be needed anymore.
Step 4
Cut the apples into cubes.
Step 5
Grate the zest of 1 lemon using a fine grater, being careful not to touch the white pith, as it is bitter.
Step 6
Place the apples with the peels into the basin where the skins were cooked.
Step 7
Squeeze the juice from the lemon.
Step 8
Add sugar, a cinnamon stick, and lemon juice to the mixing bowl.
Step 9
Cook over medium heat for 1 hour and 45 minutes, stirring the jam every 15 minutes.
