Ingredients
- Spanish onions - 8 heads
- Mandarins - 5 pieces
- Sausages - 8 pieces
- Peeled chestnuts - 3.5 oz
- Breadcrumbs - 3.5 oz
- Cranberry - 1 tablespoon
- Sage - 1 bunch
- Lemon - ½ piece
- Butter - 1.1 oz
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 374°F.
Step 2
Peel the onions, keeping them whole. Place them on a baking sheet, drizzle with mandarin juice, scatter mandarin zest around, sprinkle with spices, cover with foil, and bake for about 1 hour until the onions are soft.
Step 3
Mix the sausage filling with chopped chestnuts, breadcrumbs, cranberry sauce, sage, lemon zest, salt, and pepper.
Step 4
Increase the oven temperature to 392°F.
Step 5
Carefully cut off the tops of the onions and scoop out the insides. Stuff with the filling.
Step 6
Place a piece of butter on each onion and bake uncovered for about 30 minutes until crispy.
