Baked turnip in cream sauce

Ingredients

  • Butter - 4 tablespoons
  • Onion - 4.2 oz
  • Turnips - 28.2 oz
  • Wheat Flour - 2 tablespoons
  • Ground Black Pepper - to taste
  • Milk - 1 cup
  • Cream - 3 fl oz
  • Salt - to taste

Step by Step guide

Step 1

Peel and thinly slice the turnip to make 4 cups.

Step 2

Preheat the oven to 356°F.

Step 3

Grease a baking dish with butter.

Step 4

In a skillet, melt 1 tablespoon of butter and sauté the sliced onion until soft.

Step 5

Layer one-third of the turnip in the dish, then one-third of the sautéed onion, sprinkle with 2 teaspoons of flour and a little salt and pepper. Spread 1 tablespoon of softened butter on top. Repeat the layers 2 more times.

Step 6

In a bowl, mix the milk and cream and pour it into the dish. Bake in the oven for about 30 minutes covered with foil. Then remove the foil and bake for another 30-40 minutes until cooked through and golden brown.
