Trim the base of the sprouts and remove any brown or wilted leaves; cut the stems crosswise about 6 cm deep.
Step 2
In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil and cook the sprouts for 4–5 minutes. If you are preparing the sprouts in advance, immediately after draining the boiling water, rinse them with ice-cold water to stop the cooking process and prevent them from becoming mushy.
