Step 1
Slice the onion into thin quarter-rings. Sauté the onion in vegetable oil or a mixture of butter and vegetable oil until lightly golden.

Meanwhile, chop the tomatoes and garlic scapes. Cut the scapes into 3-4 centimeter pieces. Add the tomatoes, reduce the heat under the skillet, and start braising the tomatoes with the onion. Add salt.
