- White Cabbage - 4 lbs
- Turnips - 3 pieces
- Renet Simirenko Apples - 3 pieces
- Sugar - ½ cup
- Salt - 1 tablespoon
- Vegetable Oil - ½ cup
- Water - 1 qt
- 9% Vinegar - 2 fl oz
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Finely shred the cabbage. Grate the carrots and peeled apples on a coarse grater. Mix with the cabbage.
Step 2
Pack into a three-liter jar.
Step 3
Pour with hot brine. For the brine: bring water with salt, sugar, and oil to a boil, then remove from heat. Stir in the vinegar.
Step 4
Place the cooled cabbage in the refrigerator for 12 hours.
