Ingredients
- Canned Mackerel in Oil - 1 can
- Onion - 1 head
- Butter - 0.4 oz
- Chicken Egg - 1 piece
- Gherkins - 3 pieces
- Hard Cheese - 1.8 oz
- White bread - to taste
- Dill - to taste
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Peel the onion and slice it into half-rings.
Step 2
Cut the gherkins into small cubes.
Step 3
Open the can of mackerel and drain the liquid. Carefully remove any large bones.
Step 4
Grate the cheese on a coarse grater.
Step 5
Boil the egg hard. Cool it down, then peel.
Step 6
Cut it into cubes.
Step 7
In a blender bowl, combine the onion, gherkins, fish, cheese, egg, and softened butter. Blend at high speed for about 10 seconds. The pâté should not be homogeneous; leave some chunks for added zest.
Step 8
Slice the bread and toast it on a fire or in a toaster on both sides until golden brown.
Step 9
Spread the pâté on the toasts.
Step 10
Garnish with sprigs of dill.
