Ingredients
- Peeled chestnuts - 17.6 oz
- Butter - 1.1 oz
- Chicken Broth - 1 qt
- Turnips - 1 piece
- Turnips - 3 pieces
- Onion - 1 head
- Sugar - a pinch
- White bread - 1 piece
- Salt - to taste
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Peel the chestnuts from their shells and place them in boiling salted water for five minutes.
Step 2
Add the slightly boiled chestnuts to a pot with broth and simmer on low heat.
Step 3
Ten minutes before the chestnuts are fully cooked, sauté the chopped carrots, turnip, and onion in butter.
Step 4
Mash the cooked chestnuts, season with salt, sprinkle with sugar, and return them to the pot. Add the sautéed vegetables as well.
Step 5
Serve with bread toasted in butter.
