Ingredients
- Chicory - 12 pieces
- Butter - 0.9 oz
- Milk - 17 fl oz
- Gruyère cheese - 3.5 oz
- Safflower Oil - 2 tablespoons
- Wheat Flour - 2 tablespoons
- Salt - to taste
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Remove the stems from the chicory and boil it in salted water. At the same time, bring an equal amount of salted water to a boil in another pot. Once the chicory is boiling, transfer it to the adjacent pot. Bring the water to a boil again and cook for about 20 minutes. Transfer the vegetables to a baking dish.
Step 2
Melt the butter in a saucepan along with the sunflower oil, stir in the flour, and cook, stirring, for 2 minutes. Then slowly pour in the milk, add salt, and cook for another 10 minutes. Pour the sauce over the chicory.
Step 3
Sprinkle with grated cheese and place in a preheated oven at 356°F. Bake for 10-15 minutes until the cheese melts and turns golden brown. Serve immediately in the same dish.
