- Cinnamon - 3 pieces
- Lemon - ½ piece
- Ground clove - 4 pieces
- Apple - 4 pieces
- Brown Sugar - 1.5 cups
- Port Wine - 1 cup
- Ground Cinnamon - ½ teaspoon
- Grated Ginger Root - ½ teaspoon
- Cardamom - ¼ teaspoon
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 347°F.
Step 2
In a large pot, pour in the ale, add the cinnamon sticks, lemon zest, cloves, and bring to a boil over low heat.

Meanwhile, cut the apples in half and place them in a small baking dish. Sprinkle with sugar (1 cup), add a little ale (¼ cup), and all the port wine. Place in the preheated oven for 30 minutes.
Step 4
While the apples are baking, add the remaining sugar, cardamom, ginger, and ground cinnamon to the pot with the ale and mix well.

When the apples are ready, transfer them to the pot with the ale and pour in all the liquid left in the baking dish.
Step 6
Place the pot on low heat for 30–40 minutes.
Step 7
Before serving, pour the ale into mugs, adding half an apple to each.
