Christmas Punch with Apples, Ale, and Sherry

Ingredients

  • Pickled Apples - 4 pieces
  • Dark Ale - 1 qt
  • Medium-dry sherry - 8 fl oz
  • Brown Sugar - 1.8 oz
  • Lemon - ½ piece
  • Ground Cinnamon - ¼ teaspoon
  • Ground Nutmeg - ¼ teaspoon
  • Grated Ginger Root - ¼ teaspoon

Step by Step guide

Step 1

Place the apple halves in a shallow pot or baking dish, sprinkle with sugar, add a quarter cup of ale, cover with a lid, and place in an oven preheated to 347°F. Bake for about 30 minutes.

Step 2

In a large pot, pour in the sherry and the remaining ale, add the lemon zest and spices, and bring to almost a boil over medium heat (about 6 minutes), then remove from heat and serve immediately.

Step 3

Before serving, pour the ale into mugs, adding half of the baked apple to each.
