Description
A beautiful alternative to the familiar hot dog, where the dough is enveloped in a delicate coating—a batter made from a mixture of wheat and corn flour. This results in a vibrant dough with a slightly sweet flavor. The recipe requires you to pierce the hot dog with a skewer, then dip it into the flavorful batter and fry it thoroughly in a skillet. Making corn dogs is simple, quick, and fun, so we recommend involving their main eaters—children and teenagers—in the process.
Ingredients
- Sausages - 8 pieces
- Wheat Flour - 5.6 oz
- Corn Flour for Polenta - 4.1 oz
- Sugar - 1.8 oz
- Baking Powder - 1 tablespoon
- Salt - 1 tablespoon
- Chicken Egg - 2 pieces
- Milk - 8 fl oz
- Vegetable Oil - 1½ l
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Combine cornmeal and wheat flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
Step 2
Add baking powder, sugar, and salt.
Step 3
Pour in the milk.
Step 4
Add the eggs and whisk until smooth.
Step 5
Pour the batter into a large cup; this will make it easier to coat the sausages with the batter.
Step 6
Insert a skewer into each sausage.
Step 7
Dip the sausage in the batter and let the excess drip off.
Step 8
Fry in heated oil at 356°F. Cook for 5 minutes, making sure to turn them regularly. Repeat the same process with the remaining sausages.
Step 9
Place the finished corn dogs on paper towels to remove excess grease.
Step 10
Serve.
