Description
Fisherman's Soup with Vodka
Ingredients
- River Fish - 17.6 oz
- Perch - 35.3 oz
- Salad Potatoes - 10.6 oz
- Carrot - 1 piece
- Onion - 2 heads
- Salt - to taste
- Green peppercorns - to taste
- Bay leaf - 2 pieces
- Vodka - 1 fl oz
- Water - 1 qt
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Wrap small uncleaned river fish (ideally ruffe, but perch or small pike perch can be used) in several layers of cheesecloth, place in a large pot, and cover with cold water. Bring to a boil, skim off the foam, and cook for about 40 minutes. Do not add salt!
Step 2
When the small fish is cooked, remove it without taking it out of the cheesecloth.
Step 3
In the beautiful clear fish broth, add diced potatoes, carrot, and sliced onion. When the broth boils, add salt and spices, throw in pieces of pike perch, and cook until the fish and vegetables are done (about 20 minutes on average).
Step 4
Before finishing cooking, pour vodka into the pot, cover with a lid, and let it sit for 10 minutes.
Step 5
In each bowl, place a piece of pike perch, vegetables, and pour in the broth. Top with freshly chopped dill.
