Ingredients
- Black Rowan - 2 lbs
- Sugar - 1½ kg
- Water - 1½ glasses
- Ginger - 0.5 oz
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Sort the berries and remove the stems. Place the currants in a basin and cover them with cold water. Usually, a lot of small debris floats to the surface; remove it.
Step 2
Drain the water and rinse the berries once more, then place them in a sieve to dry on a towel.
Step 3
Dissolve the sugar in water over low heat, then bring the syrup to a boil.
Step 4
Grate the ginger.
Step 5
As soon as the syrup boils, add the berries along with the ginger and cook for 5–7 minutes.
Step 6
In a pot or saucepan, bring some water to a boil, place a dish with a flat perforated bottom on top, and then set the jars on it. Leave for 10–15 minutes.
Step 7
Remove the jam from the heat and immediately pour it into sterilized jars.
