Description
Fresh river fish soup
Ingredients
- Perch - 1 piece
- Carp - 1 piece
- Tomatoes - 4 pieces
- Potato - 17.6 oz
- Onion - 3 heads
- Bay leaf - 5 pieces
- Green peppercorns - to taste
- Salt - to taste
- Sugar - 1 tablespoon
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Place the cleaned and gutted fish into the pot. For larger fish, you can cut them into pieces, while smaller ones can be added whole. It's better to remove the gills from larger fish, as they can add bitterness.
Step 2
Add the peeled and chopped potatoes, halved onions, and quartered tomatoes to the pot.
Step 3
Pour in water until it just covers the contents of the pot. There won't be much broth in the soup.
Step 4
The next steps depend on the type of fish you are using to make the fish soup. The key is not to overcook the fish. For perch and carp, 25 minutes of gentle simmering is sufficient.
Step 5
A couple of minutes before the cooking process is finished, add salt, throw in some pepper, dill (you can leave it whole), and a piece of sugar cube.
