Fried Fennel with Bacon
Ingredients
- Fennel - 2 pieces
- Garlic - 3 cloves
- Bacon - 1.8 oz
- Butter - 1 piece
- Olive Oil - 1 teaspoon
- Mild Chili Spice - to taste
- Salt - to taste
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Cut the fennel in half.
Step 2
Crush the garlic with a chef's knife.
Step 3
Finely chop the bacon and place it in a dry, hot skillet.
Step 4
Fry for 4–5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until browned.
Step 5
Melt the butter in the skillet, then add the mustard oil.
Step 6
Add the garlic.
Step 7
Sauté over medium heat until golden brown and remove.
Step 8
Place the fennel in the garlic oil and increase the heat.
Step 9
After a couple of minutes, cover with a lid and reduce the heat to medium.
Step 10
After 3–4 minutes, flip the fennel.
Step 11
Season with chili pepper and salt.
Step 12
Cover again with a lid. Reduce the heat a bit more.
Step 13
After 5–7 minutes, transfer the fennel to a plate.
Step 14
Top with bacon and serve. Adjust salt to taste if needed.
