Fried Golden Fennel in Breadcrumbs
Ingredients
- Fennel - 2 pieces
- Wheat Flour - 4.2 oz
- Breadcrumbs - 5.3 oz
- Coarse Salt - to taste
- Ground Black Pepper - to taste
- Large eggs - 3 pieces
- Lemon - 2 pieces
- Vegetable Oil - 12 fl oz
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Cut the fennel in half lengthwise, then into medium pieces.
Step 2
In two bowls, place the breadcrumbs and flour. Season both mixtures with salt and pepper. In a third bowl, lightly beat the eggs. Season with salt and pepper as well. Dredge the fennel first in the flour, then in the egg, and finally in the breadcrumbs.
Step 3
Heat the vegetable oil well in a saucepan over medium heat.
Step 4
Fry the fennel pieces in batches until golden brown, about 30 seconds each. Transfer to a paper towel and sprinkle with salt.
Step 5
Arrange on a plate and serve with lemon wedges.
