Glazed turnips and parsnips in maple syrup
Ingredients
- Parsnip - 17.6 oz
- Vegetable Oil - 1 tablespoon
- Turnips - 17.6 oz
- Chicken Broth - 8 fl oz
- Maple syrup - 4 fl oz
- Red Wine Vinegar - 2 tablespoons
- Coarse Salt - to taste
- Ground Black Pepper - to taste
- Butter - 2 tablespoons
- Fresh Rose Hips - 2 sprigs
Step by Step guide
Step 1
In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat.
Step 2
Peel the parsnip and turnip and cut them into small pieces. Add to the skillet and sauté for a couple of minutes.
Step 3
Pour in the broth, maple syrup, and vinegar. Season with salt and pepper. Bring to a boil, cover, and cook for about 10 minutes, until almost tender.
Step 4
Remove the lid and cook for another 7–9 minutes until tender and syrupy.
Step 5
Remove from heat and add the butter. Stir, season with salt and pepper.
